Legend Restore - Restore the previous state of a legend (undo and redo changes)

Legend Restore (hotkey Ctrl + Y) restores the previous state of a single or of several legends.

The themes, which legends shall be restored, must be active. If several themes are active, the dialog window will be opened several times (theme by theme). The name of the theme is shown in the title of the dialog (see example above).
History: Contains the list of all legends that are available for this theme in the backup file (by default the last 20 changes in a legend are kept for 60 days). The legend state that should be restored can be chosen and is displayed in the Preview box.

Every legend state is displayed with date, time and type of operation (see below) and the number of classes of the saved legend (i.e. before the operation).
The history list is sorted descending by date. The latest state is shown first, the eldest state at the end of the list. If the recent change should be undone, just press the enter key or Click on the button.
The restored state will be removed from the list and the next state is moving to the top of the list. The current state of the legend is saved as ----Restore---- at the end of the list and can be redone when the function is called again.
By calling this function several times and just pressing the enter key or clicking on button, all changes of the legend can be undone step by step. When ----Restore--- is displayed on top of the list again, the state you were looking for is not saved anymore and the latest changes can be recalled.

Advanced: This button expands the dialog and enables you to restore legend states of other or previously renamed themes (see Remark below). In the 3 list boxes all projects, views or themes are displayed for which legends are available in the backup file. Click on the Advanced button again to reduce the dialog window to initial size.
Project: Select a project for which legends are available in the backup file.
View: Select a view of the project for which legends are available in the backup file.
Theme: Select a theme of the view for which legends are available in the backup file.

Type of edit operations as displayed in the History:

Adjust: Hue, saturation or brightness was adjusted.
Build: Frequency or interval classifications was created.
Copy: A legend was copied from another theme.
Edit: The legend was double-clicked in order to change it with the legend editor (the state of the legend was only saved if it differed from the previous backup. The backup was created even if the user hadn't made any changes in the legend editor or had not applied them).
Extend: Missing classes were added.
Import: Legend was imported from a table.
Limit: Legend was reduced to visible, selected or unused classes.
Load: A new legend or color map file was loaded.
Ramp: Continuous color ramps were created.
Restore: A change was undone with Legend Restore. The state of the legend before it was undone can be redone with this function.
Sort: Classes were sorted by value, label, color or brightness.
Transfer: Labels and/or symbols/colors were transferred from another theme.
Others: With the function Legend Backup you can manually create backups with arbitrary names. That's why there can be any other names displayed in the list.

Possible error messages:

Backup file for legends is missing: The backup file of the project wasn't created yet or was deleted. If the file was moved, you can restore the correct relation with the Legend Backup function.
No backups available for <theme>: For this theme no legends are found in the backup file.

Note:

A legend is identified by the name of the project, view and theme. If the name of the project, view or theme has been changed, you can select the corresponding legend with Advanced (optionally you can change the name back to the original name, to make those backups available again). Moving a project file to another drive or path has no consequences because a legend is identified by the base name of the project only and not by its path.

If there are several projects with the same file name on the computer and those also have views and themes of the same name, the legends of these themes are administered in a common history list.
